The Youth Hostel in Johannesburg is a contemporary timber house project developed to provide durable, comfortable and climate-responsive accommodation. The design emphasises simplicity of form, clear structural logic and a strong connection between internal spaces and the surrounding landscape.
Holzbau Hess was commissioned to deliver the engineering design, manufacture and installation of the timber structure. The scope included detailed structural engineering, precision fabrication of load-bearing elements and on-site assembly supervision to ensure quality and accuracy throughout the construction process.
