In the heart of southern Styria, Holzbau Hess constructed a striking barrel roof for the wine salesroom at Schloss Gamlitz. This project harmoniously blends tradition with innovation, reflecting the region's rich winemaking heritage.
The barrel roof not only serves as a structural element but also as a defining feature of the space. Its undulating form allows natural light to filter through, casting intricate shadows and enhancing the sensory experience of visitors. The design fosters a connection between the interior and the surrounding vineyard landscape, offering a unique setting for wine enthusiasts and guests.
This project was completed in June 2021 and used 40m³ of timber.
